Baby’s baptism day is one of the most cherished events for parents and family. It’s a day filled with pomp and ceremony, and for parents, beaming pride mixed with nervous anticipation. Before the entire church, baby is formally welcomed as a member as holy water is poured over her forehead and her name is pronounced. Now imagine that the same ceremony is held inside Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and conducted by the Pope himself (!) That’s what happened on Sunday for 32 lucky babies in Rome as they were baptized by Pope Francis during the annual Baptism of The Lord mass. The Sistine Chapel choir sang during the ceremony, but we have to agree with the Pope that “the most beautiful chorus is that of the babies”.
